U7 Travel Baseball Registration Now Open!

2021 Travel Baseball Team Information For U7

The Chatham Baseball U7 baseball program is a competitive (non-recreational) baseball program that is forming teams to represent Chatham through the late Spring and Summer baseball seasons.  Teams will be announced in May and play against other local U7 town teams from mid-June and through July 31st.  The summer league games will be a combination of coach pitching and kid pitching. Teams may also play in a local weekend tournaments.  Please keep in mind the primary goal of this program is player development.

The U7 summer baseball program requires commitment from both the player, and the player's family.  Frequent schedule changes are to be expected due to weather and changing dates in leagues and tournaments, so players and parents must plan to be flexible.  Prompt and regular attendance is a must for all players.  Parents must plan summer vacations to avoid conflict with practices and games.  The commitment for the Chatham U7 program will be 3-4 days per week (most likely 2 mid-week evening games and a weekend morning practice) from mid-June through July 31st.  There will be no games or events after July 31st.

Chatham Baseball will conduct a “U7 Evaluation Clinic” in which the players will participate in fun baseball activities while they are evaluated in an effort to create balanced teams. The date of this evaluation is TBD but some weeknight in May
Teams will be created depending on the number of players and the availability of Head and Assistant Coaches.  The goal is to maximize participation and field as many teams as possible.  Requests to be placed on a specific team cannot be honored, except for siblings, which will be placed on the same team.

Participants must register for 2021 U7 Evaluation Clinic through BCC’s website: http://www.chathambaseball.com. Registration is now open and will close on May 15th.  Player's eligible age is determined by the player’s age as of April 30th, 2021.  In order to register and participate in the U7 program, players cannot turn 8 years old prior to May 1st 2021.  This program is open all 1st and 2nd graders who are age eligible.

Participation in the U7 Evaluation Clinic is mandatory for all players who wish to be placed on a team. Only those baseball players who are currently playing in Chatham Recreation Spring Baseball are eligible to participate.  Please click HERE for direct link to the registration page.

There is a $10 fee to participate in the U7 Evaluation Clinic that will be paid at registration.  Once the player is assigned to a team, a fee will be charged based on what additional leagues and tournaments are scheduled.  We expect the fee to be approximately $200.00 per player which will cover league and tournament expenses.  The fee does NOT include a uniform, which would be purchased separately.

After registration closes we will pass along information on how to order travel baseball uniforms from Alfreds in Madison.  Nothing need to be done yet on uniforms.

Please contact Brian Matthews at   if have any questions concerning the Travel Baseball Program.

2021 Capital Project Update

A brief note on some of the capital improvements the Baseball Club of Chatham, NJ was able to make for the 2021 season.  We are able to do this as a result of your registration fees and our sponsorship funds, so thank you to our members who rolled over their 2020 registration fees to 2021, our sponsors who rolled over their 2020 sponsorship fees, and the many generous baseball families who donated extra as this has allowed us to complete these projects.

We hope you enjoy the 2021 improvements!

We installed a new, energy efficient LED scoreboard at Nash 2.  Shunpike 1 is also getting a new scoreboard.  Nash 2 never had a scoreboard, and Shunpike 1 scoreboard needed replacing after 15 years.

We’d like to thank Jimmy Fleming from Jimmy Fleming Electric, one of our longtime sponsors for doing the installations for us.

Nash 2 Scoreboard:

We built new dugouts on Nash 2.   This follows the complete field regrade and rehabilitation of Nash 2 we did in 2019.  Brian Siegel Architects, a BCC sponsor, created the drawings and specifications based on the Nash 1 dugouts.  He made the Nash 2 dugouts an open back design based on feedback we received on the Nash 1 dugouts being difficult for our spectators to see around.

These collective improvements take Nash 2 from a field which nobody wanted to play on to a field that we hope everyone enjoys playing on now.

We won’t lie, the project has been a challenge to complete before the beginning of the season due to the winter weather and other factors, but our contractor John Villoresi of HSP Custom Builders made it happen.

Steve Simonfay, Simonfay Landscaping, another longtime sponsor of our program, did the final landscaping and seeding around the dugouts.

Thanks to everyone for making this happen!

Here is a brief photo time lapse of the dugout progress.
